Emily Mckeon grew up in Epworth, Iowa as the youngest of 4 kids. She graduated from Western Dubuque High School in 2003. Upon finishing her massage education in 2015 she opened her own massage business for a short time. She joined the Dubuque Massage Therapy LLC team in October 2016. Emily is dedicated to helping with the healing and relaxation powers of massage by utilizing her knowledge and years of experience.
After learning about massage from her friend Liz Shade, Emily decided to research how to become a licensed massage therapist. She then made the decision to attend massage school in Dubuque. In 2013 she enrolled in Inspirit Institute School of Massage. While in school she continued to work full time and attend school part-time. Recently, she has started taking Precision Neuromuscular Therapy (PNMT) classes and now integrates these techniques into her massages.
Favorite Type of Massage
Emily’s favorite type of massage is deep tissue massage. She loves the benefits of the deeper pressure and how its focus is on the deepest layer of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia to help release chronic muscle tension. While she does not enjoy people coming to her in pain, she loves when they leave feeling like a million bucks. Emily also is the sole practitioner of Gua Sha at Dubuque Massage Therappy LLC.
In her free time Emily loves to read, listen to music, be outside surrounded by nature. She also loves being around animals (they are her second passion). Her husband, son and her share their home with several rescue dogs and cats. She hopes to have a farm someday so she can rescue livestock, and other animals in need (although she jokes that she is pretty sure her husband hopes this never happens!).
